LEGAL BILLING PRACTICES:
As a service provider to industry leaders, our work ethic and
integrity are of the highest order. Our bills are based upon the
actual work performed and are not based upon "value added
services". Our clients over the years have experienced great
savings by experiencing honesty in billing practices. For
example, if one client has three matters that are up in court for
a status call and the status call takes one hour, our clients
receive a bill totaling one-hour for service and not three hours.
Take a look at your bills over the course of these past few
years, can the same be said of the firms working with you. Also,
as an additional cost savings measure, whenever possible
(particularly at the Industrial Commission) our firm employs the
services of professional paralegals to minimize the rates being
charged to your matter. Our interest is serving you over the long
course of time, not billing as much time to one file as possible.
Our desire is to be retained by you over the course of years
rather than earn as large of a fee as possible on each particular
file. That's one of the reasons our firm has attracted industry
leaders as clients.
We bill on increments of .1 and can engage in quarterly billing
practices. We possess task-based code billing practices in
conformity with ABA (American Bar Association) guidelines. On
individual matters, retainer fees are required and all time is
charged against the retainer fee. On individual files involving
professional licensure matters, the billing is monthly. For
corporate matters, billing can be quarterly however, generally
the clients of the firm find they are better able to control the
litigation process by receiving monthly bills rather than seeing
a legal bill covering a ninety day period.
Our firm's philosophy concerning billing practice and habits is
that it presents an opportunity to further gain your trust.
Typically, our bills are so well described that they constitute
an excellent point of reference as to where we are in the
litigation process and prompt both client and attorney to take
action designed to improve the likelihood of success.
Our firm feels strongly that a client who is paying a
professional fee should not incur separate charges for long
distance telephone calls, ordinary postage and ordinary photocopy
expenses.
Our legal bills have withstood the scrutiny of clients going
through our legal bills with a ruler, line-by-line. We are proud
to have these clients with us for well over a decade and we look
forward to decades ahead.
If you have special needs concerning your billing requirements,
speak to us up front and all reasonable accommodations that can
be made, will be made.
